I am new here. My GT is great, though cooling is a concern. Any thoughts that would not void the powertrain warranty are appreciated.

Also, when I purchased the car, it did not come with the touted 12 mos. XM because of the upgraded sound system...so, I am going through the after-market process. Currently there is no reception, at all. I did make something of an appointment for this coming Tuesday, but really miss the sound-from-the-sky.

If your engine is running hotter than it is designed to you need a trip to dealer. Keep in mind that gauges in cars are not 100% accurate. If instead teh interior of vehicle feels hotter than it should with A/C turned off that is normal in modern vehicles. Extra noise suppression shielding under the hood leads to trapped heat leads to reason why virtually every car today, including a $10,000 G3 comes standard with A/C. Removing superfluous plastic parts under the hood should not affect the warranty - unless they are part of an air circulation for cooling system, then removal would actually make engine hotter.

Even teh factory installed XM units don't all work driving off the lot, although testing operation and setting up teh subscription should be part of pre-delivery by the dealer. You need the following with add-on XM: a stand alone XM antenna or a wrap araound. A FM modulator or a direct plug-in to radio head unit. actual activation of XM unit.

Thanks for the words. Actually, my primary concern is heat radiating from the engine after I pull into my garage. Actual driving temps, again judging by those factory gauges, seem fine. What you said about the under the hood has me thinking about yanking out those rather flimsy-looking hood scoop bottoms...

As for the XM...that is "history". Tomorrow I get to see if they can fix the aftermarket radio, which now gives me just hisses (in return for my life-time subscription).
