Hey All,

Anyone know how many G8's have sold so far? Are they moving, or sitting on lots?

Thanks,

John

Thanks!

Thanks! Do you know if that's above or below Pontiac's expectations so far?

John
Little early to tell that. March was a very short sales month due to lack of product. May and June could result in quite possibly 3/4 of all 2008's being sold and until the year is over we won't possibly have a handle on exactly how many were produced. First batch that showed up on gminventory totaled just over 4000, then a couple thou more got added (I think), add in the 888 and I am guessing that total 2008 production may be less than or close to 10,000. But if April is any clue a figure of around 25,000 units per year would be about it. If sales pick up regardless of gas prices then that # could go up. Even though the G8 is essentially the replacement of the GP, I don't think anyone at Pontiac expects the G8 numbers to match what they did with the GP. Lots and lots of GPs ended up in rental and lease and the G6 is taking over that spot.
Chief,

Thanks for the info! Last question for you: how can you tell what production number your car was? Where's the starting point for the serial number at the end of the VIN for the non 888 cars?

Thanks!

John

i might be wrong, but i think its on the invoice sheet your dealer gives you. mine was yellow. along the top is a bunch on information about the car. yr, make, color, model, invoice, stock #, customer #. i think its the stock #. i would hate to be 889.
Do ya'll really think that the cars in the 888 numbers are really going to retain value more than others? Just asking, because the one that we are looking at is 885 in the series. Please be kind when you answer, yes I really am that unknowledgable about things of this nature.

If you go by the current market value of the first debut model GTO with the LS1 vs LS2 versions then I'd say no. If the there's more options available on the 09 that wasn't offered on the 888 then that will also play a factor in holding it's value. Right now the projected value with the 888's could go either way. Just my 2 cents!
That's what I was thinking as well. So I wasn't willing to pay the 3k mark up for it being one of the 888. It wasn't something that I thought was worth paying that on. Since it's part of a buy back for my 2007 Solstice, I don't have to pay the mark up. It's all good to me.
Thanks!
