battery needing replacement?

Bought my 2009 GT couple of weeks ago. Whenever I start it , it seems to initially have a little drag on the start then she always starts fine. Do these always seem just a little sluggish or is the battery telling me it is going away? Going on a long trip soon and do not want to mess with a battery on the trip.
