I'm thinking about getting into a G8. This car really intrigues me. I'm waiting though for an '09(manual), and waiting for some good GM rebates and 0% financing(if that is offered). I'm on here to learn as much as I can about 'em. Thanks for lettin' me in:).

Welcome.

The only model that will be offered with the manual 6 speed is going to be the GXP. SO, expect to pay more (my estimate is about $3500, some think closer to $7500 - just shy of $40k) Although you may not get hit with a gas guzzler tax expect much less than 24 mpg highway as current GT is rated at. With hp (and slight displacement increase) there comes a price.
I drove a Lightning for 2 years, so crappy gas mileage is well known to me. The BEST I ever got on the highway was 15 mpg, and that was cruising at 65 mph. I'd normally see somewhere along the lines of 12 mpg, or less if I romped on the fun pedal.

This and the idea that auto's are quicker cars(most GTO owners agree on this) may put me back in an auto car. Hmmm, decisions, decisions.:)

Thanks for the welcome Chiefpontiac.

Mika,
I'm in the same position. It's hard not to give in to the G8's temptation to be one of the first but I'm waiting for great incentives too. Please let me know if you hear anything. I will do the same for everyone on the site. I am here to learn.

If you look online, some dealers will offer $900-1k off of MSRP. So far, that's all I've found. That and the $1k loyalty cash back.

Around here(DFW), the G8's aren't moving off the lot as quickly as the dealers were expecting. Right now I can think of 6 G8 GT's that I've seen at 2 dealers(Classic and Sewell), options ranging from base to fully decked out.

RJ, if you do look around at dealers and online, you can save some cash. Or just wait 'til around May or June and see if there's some "end of the model year" deals.
