The website is up-and-running, and you can register for the event now. Just go to g8gone.com / NationalG8Meet.com - International G8 Meet (G.O.N.E) - Welcome to g8gone.com - the Official International G8 Meet Website!, and get all the info you should need and register.

We also have a primary event sponsor. SOLO Performance is providing a complete catback exhaust system to one lucky winner! They are also sending T-Shirts, and additional funds to help defray event expenses.

We had 65 G8s (13 GXPs, 50 GTs, and 2 Base) there last year, and it looks like there will be alot more there this year! We hope to see you there!

I see that alot of folks are reading this thread, but I am very surprised that there has been no feedback or comment. I would welcome any questions or suggestions, and I hope to see alot of you there!
We now have 25 paid registrations for G.O.N.E. 2011! Please remember that the discounted registration fee of $40 for early registration ends on June 30. The cost will then be $50. If you are coming, I encourage you to get registered and reserve your hotel room before the end of the month!

I am very excited to see that we now have 27 Paid Registered vehicles for the 2011 event! Last year was a terrific event and we had a total of 65 cars there. We are nearly at half of that already, so turnout should be excellent! We have registrants from all over so far. We have the following states represented just from the early registrants, CA, NY, NJ, FL, OK, IA, CO, IL, OH, MI, & WI, and at least 1 Canadian registrant. Many of these folks drove long distances for the inaugural event, and they are making the trek again!

Remember the early registration discount ends on June 30, so if you can come, register in the next 9 days to save $10. I should have some new sponsor and donor announcements to make in the next few weeks. I can't wait for September!
Adam's Premium Car Care Products have generously stepped up to be our Car Show Sponsor. Thanks Dylan, and the folks from Adam's!
Alright folks, we are nearly at the end of the discounted "early bird" registration, and I am thrilled to say that we have 34 Paid Registered vehicles for the 2011 event! We are now over half of last year's total participation! I am beginning to think that having over 100 G8s (plus "guest vehicles") is going to be a reality. We have registrants from all over so far. We have the following updated states represented from the early registrants, CA, NY, NJ, FL, OK, IA, CO, IL, OH, MI, WI, GA, MO, IN, MN, & TX and at least 1 Canadian registrant from Manitoba. Many of these folks drove long distances for the inaugural event, and they are making the trek again!

Remember the early registration discount ends tonight at midnight, so if you plan to come, register ASAP to save $10. I should have some new sponsor and donor announcements to make in the next few weeks.
I wanted to give some event updates.

We now have 39 registered attendees with about 8 weeks to go. I also contacted the Isle of Capri and registrations are coming in steady. Remember, you must make your hotel registration before August 24, 2011 to get the group rate. I would ask that you make that reservation ASAP, so we will know if we need a larger block of rooms. Right now they have 30 rooms blocked Thursday, and 45 rooms blocked for Friday & Saturday. If we can fill up our block sooner, they will add to it. If we wait too long there may not be anymore rooms available. They are also penciling in a slightly larger space for the awards ceremony in case we need it (the other space held 80-120 people max). They are also aware that we will likely need 2/3 of the upper deck of the parking ramp for our show. I am telling them we need space for 100-120 cars.

More news to follow!
We now officially have 46 paid registrants for the event! Hopefully we will surpass 50 real soon, and I would be ecstatic if we can equal or exceed last year's total attendance (70) in pre-registrants. If we can do that I am extremely confident that we will have over 100 registered cars in attendance since some folks plan to register at the event.

I would ask that if you plan to attend for sure, please pre-register. Right now registrations are slightly behind expenses. This is the timeframe when everyone starts wanting payment for everything. That trend would become about break-even if we can get to about 60 pre-registrants. Remember, any "extra funds" will be used for nicer/more food at the awards ceremony and then rolled into funding the 2012 event. This is not a profit making venture for me or anyone else. I just want the event to support itself and get better each year!
I just wanted to pop in and let folks know that rooms are booking up at the Isle of Capri fast. I just spoke with Kay Hawotte, and all of the Double Queen rooms in the north tower are booked. We still have Single King rooms available in our block though. If you need a 2 bed room, please call Kay Hawotte directly at (563)344-2657. She still has some availability in the south tower, but she can do it at our group rate. Don't wait, because south tower Double Queen rooms are disappearing too.
We now have 59 pre-paid registrants for the event, and there is now no doubt that 2011 will be bigger than 2010. Last year we had 65 G8s (70 total cars) in attendance. I fully expect over 100 cars this year! If you haven't decided whether to come or not, you should, or you will be kicking yourself later!

*** G.O.N.E. 2011 Weather Update ***

I am convinced that Mother Nature is trying to make up for the weather that she threw at us last year. Forecasts for Friday and Saturday next week in Bettendorf, IA are beautiful! Friday, Sept 9, sunny, high of 78 degrees, low of 58 degrees, humidity in the upper 60% range, and less than 10% chance of rain. Saturday, Sept 10, sunny, high of 79 degrees, low of 60 degrees, and less than 10% chance of rain. I am especially excited about what that means for racing on Friday afternoon/evening. Last year we got rained out on Friday, and then it was REALLY hot and humid for Saturday with Density Altitude readings of well over 3000 ft (which was awful for performance). This year my calculations show Density Altitudes starting at about 2200 ft at midday (before we start racing in late afternoon), and dropping down to about 800 ft by evening. Based on the excellent track prep at Cordova, and sun beating down on the pavement all day, that should mean terrific track prep and fast ETs. Weather for the show will also be excellent, but you will need some sunblock! I can't wait!

Alright, I had a chance to gather some of the event stats for you numbers junkies out there. I will try to pull together the trophy winners and get them posted in the near future too. Here goes:

63 Pre-paid Registrants
9 Onsite Registrants

72 Total Registrants (compared to 70 last year)

There were 69 cars there this year, since 3 registrants were unable to attend, and here is the breakdown:

2 Base G8s (both 2009s)
46 G8 GTs (11 2008s & 35 2009s) including a G8 Firehawk
13 G8 GXPs
6 GTOs (2 2004s, 3 2005s, & 1 2006)
2 G8 Guests (2011 Caddy CTS-V & 2000 Chevy Silverado {his '06 GTO was in the shop})

We had 20 states and 1 province represented (CA, NY, NJ, FL, OK, IA, CO, WI, OH, MI, IL, GA, MO, OK, MN, TX, AL, DE, IN, LA, and Manitoba Canada)

We had 118 attendees counting registrants and their guests.

I would say that is a success, and I am already starting prep for G.O.N.E. 2012. Watch for official announcements once I iron out the date!

Just joined and bummed about missing GONE 2011. Any pics for this event posted? When is GONE 2012?
BIG ANNOUNCEMENT

Please mark your calendars for September 21-23, 2012!

That is the weekend that we are planning to hold G.O.N.E. 2012 (G8/GTO Owners iNternational Event 2012). I have gotten commitment from Cordova Dragway Park for a private track rental timeframe before their regular Friday night Test-N-Tune (it is only 1 hour, but we will be the only ones allowed on the track from 5:00-6:00), plus we will have our own staging lanes like last year. Other details will be worked out and posted to the website as time goes on. I look forward to seeing you all again, plus many new faces!

Check out the official website g8gone.com / NationalG8Meet.com - International G8 Meet (G.O.N.E) - Welcome to g8gone.com - the Official International G8 Meet Website! for pictures. It will be getting a redesign to host pictures from the 2010 & 2011 events, and will be the place to register and get info for the 2012 event.
Great to hear about GONE 2012 in Illinois, only about 6 hours from me. I have some work to do on my G8 before the event! Can't wait for it!
