Default Cold Air Intake - Increased gas mileage?

Hi Everybody,

I'm new to the forum and have been an owner for 2 days now, so forgive me if this has been asked before. Can I get a cold air intake to increase gas mileage and HP? If so what do you recommend? Would the dealer have to install it to stay within warranty?

Waste of time and money unless you compensate the INTAKE with the OUTPUT. That means you must do something on the back end like cat back exhaust systems. Aftermarket cold air systems are more direct, induction wise, but are also noiser than the factory setup. That's one reason why the factory designed the as built system. GM engineers may be arrogant but they are not dumb.

So.........................if you do not plan to race it, why are you bothering?

I put a Roto-Fab intake on my 09 GT. There is really no difference in the sound from the stock intake, until you really push the motor hard...then it sounds WONDERFUL...a nice big V-8 growl...with a noticable difference in power. As far as having to put an exhaust on to compensate...that's not completely true. It would help to put a free flow exhaust on, but not necessary. I've ran mine with the new intake for about 6 months...My findings...on the highway, when I'm not pushing the throttle too hard...I regularly average 28-29 mpg...Quite a difference from 24 from the factory intake. In my opnion..the Roto-Fab is worth every penny their charging.
