Default Official G8 GXP Numbers Care of GMI

2009 Pontiac G8 GXP Power Bumped to 415hp/415ftlbs
GM Inside News Forum

The 2009 Pontiac G8 GXP performance sedan is done going through the SAE J1349 dyno testing, giving it its official horse power of 415hp, up from the 400 estimates when the car was first shown at the New York International Auto Show. Torque also gets a bump to 415. The G8 GXP will use a larger dispalcement 6.2 LS3 V8 engine from the Corvette, and yes race fans...a six speed manual transmission will be available for the GXP model along with the standard six speed auto trans. The LS3 is the third engine available for the G8 line up starting with the 261hp 3.6 V6 engine, a 360hp 6.0 V8 engine equiped with the gas-saving Active Fuel Management system.

How about just shy of $40,000 including gas-guzzler tax. Exact dollars will be released at LA Auto Show. Lack-of-Economy numbers are apparently 16/22 for manual and a really lousy 15/20 for the automatic. Methinks still that the same 415 hp could have been scavenged from a twin turbo or at least s/c and intercooled 5.3 while acheiving much better mpg.

Estimated date of arrival in US is January, meaning production could start momentarily.

Is the GXP still going to be a reality given GM's financial status. I've been patiently waiting but the Pontiac website isn't mentioning it anymore

From what I've been hearing the GXP is still being made but I also have been looking at the Pontiac website and noticed that it is no longer on there.
If it does come out the base price is ranged at $27,995 - $38,685.

Look under future vehicles on Pontiac's website, both GXP and ST are still GO. GXP should be into production shortly, orders enough have been entered.

from what I read before the GXP was suppose to be released in late (autumn) 2008 and now the release date is early 2009

Honestly, I don't think they ever produced any GXPs in that color.

That beautiful color was only painted on the GXP Show Car. The factory colors were (in order of production) Panther Black Metallic (471), Liquid Red (377), Maverick Silver Metallic (334), White Hot (299), Sport Red Metallic (169), Magnetic Gray Metallic (78), Stryker Blue Metallic (56), and Pacific Slate Metallic (45). All GXPs are rare, but the last few colors are REALLY rare. If they had offered the GXP in that beautiful orange, that would definitely have been the color of mine!
