A little clarification of the autoblog for those just tuning in. The first 888 program is 888 specially badged G8s in mixed trim appointments, allocated to the largest 700 or so Pontiac dealers above and beyond their regular allocation for 2008 model year. No dealer would get a lone "888" as their only G8, in fact every dealer will get to "tag" at the very least, one 2008 G8. Any dealer thus getting a "888" will also receive more. A dealer may forgo their "888" if, for example they are low on the pecking order and the pickings become slim as units are tagged (these cars are all produced and pre-packeded - no special orders) and they have doubts about selling what is available. Giving up a "888" does not give them any additional allocation, nor does it subtract.
