My GT is getting 22 MPG with combined city and hwy driving (no cruise control yet in this analysis). I live in SE TX so conditions are mostly flat. I notice fuel management engages at 40+ MPH when at steady speeds (it's a subtle sensation). My engine only has 720 miles on it, so I expect to realize the advertised 24 MPG on road trips with cruise engaged and drivetrain fully broke in. Keep the tires fully charged and air filters clean and it should be good. I will also be converting to Mobil 1 oil at about 1200 miles.
Also. the onboard MPG calculator is accurate and matches my manual calcs.
Don't fret about the mileage, because the joy of driving this car will make all others rides very boring. The 11 speaker stereo is awesome as well and I'm keeping the XM radio going. Also love the On Star vehicle summary email you get once a month (predict oil life, etc.)..it's a geek thing I guess.
Enjoy the journey.. literally! GHO
